Ladies vs. Fellas: Week 1 2012

Well week 1 is in the books for the He Said She Said Fantasy Football League.  This year we’ve expanded our league from 10 to 12 teams.  Thanks to everyone participating.  Before we reveal our results, let’s reflect on the notable players from this week, shall we?

1.  Even though my Redskins beat the Saints (you read that right) Jimmy Graham is still a BEAST!

2.  God bless you Julio Jones and the 22 points you earned me this week.

3.   The Jets defense came through with the most points of all DEF in this league…and I thank you Jets.  I thank you.

4.   Were you savvy enough to start Michael Bush this week?

5.  Can Matt Ryan pull this off every week?

6.  Cutler to Marshall…they are back!

7.  Shame on you Matthew Stafford!

8.  Shame on you Michael Vick!

9.  A 63 yard kick from Akers and 51 yard kick from Janikowski…major.

10.  Someone in our league did not have a kicker in their lineup…smh

Well look who’s 1-0 just like the Redskins…PLAY ACTION PRINCESS–THAT’S WHO!

2012 Preview: Washington Redskins

The 2012 Washington Redskins have kept tradition with  an entertaining off season.  With the 2nd overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Heisman winning QB Robert Griffin III of Baylor University.  That pretty much sums it up right there.  Going into the 2011 season, it was clear that the Redskins needed a starting QB.  At the end of the 2011 season, the fact remained the Redskins needed a starting QB.  I have the pictures from the Redskins Draft Party at Fed Ex Field to prove that I along with Redskins fans everywhere are happy with this move by the Redskins organization.  While I don’t have high hopes for a Superbowl appearance or even playoffs, I’m a happy fan.  I do have high hopes for dramatic improvements this year over last year.  6 of the 11 losses in 2011 were by 1 TD or less.  It seems we have a better chance to score on offense this year and I’m hoping more of those close games go in favor of a Skins W.  Here is more on the 2012 Washington Redskins.

He Said: A Cowboys Fan in a Redskins World

I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since 1977.  During that time, I was living in Portsmouth, VA.  I was born and have spent most of my life in the Washington, DC area.  It has been a tough ride being a Cowboys fan in a Redskins world.  Since I am a proud fan, I rep my team.  I always get challenged and questioned as to why I’m a Dallas fan:  “Have you ever been to Dallas?   Where are you from?  Name a player other Tony Romo! Where do the Cowboys play?”  It’s crazy to hear the same old mundane questions.  I actually think Redskins fans know more about my team than they do about their own team based on the questions I get.  I do have to admit that some bandwagon Cowboys fans misrepresent us with their lack of knowledge and unwillingness to support the team in hard times.  But for tried and true fans like myself, it has been a pleasure to cheer on America’s Team week after week, win or lose. She Said: Great Day to be a Redskins Fan

Just 2 days after he was drafted by the Washington Redskins, Robert Griffin III made his way to the nation’s capital.  There were reportedly 19,000 people waiting to welcome him.  I was one of them.  We arrived to Fed Ex Field 3o minutes prior to the start of the Washington Redskins Draft Party and joined a sea of burgundy and gold clad fans! Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, people from all walks of life were out there ready to celebrate the Redskins.

Before taking the field for the RGIII press conference, I attended the Draft Party event hosted by the Women of Washington (WOW) Redskins. WOW Redskins is a fan club just for the ladies.  Boy, did I have a great time!  Not only did I get a chance to network with some incredibly wonderful, football savvy ladies; but I also met a few Washington Redskins.  My favorite of the bunch was Ryan Kerrigan, last year’s 1st round pick of the Redskins.
