2012 Preview: Dallas Cowboys

Year after year, I and other Dallas Cowboys fans go into the NFL season asking the same questions:  Will this be OUR year?  Will we make it to the playoffs?  Will Tony Romo jump over his many hurdles?  Will the Cowboys break my heart once again?  For America’s Team, 2012 is no different.  As usual, we are loaded with talent.  I say WE, because I’ve been a part of this team since I was 8 years old.  I’m more than a fan, and there are many like me.  We pour ourselves into this team every season, and we are waiting for some kind of payoff.  The 2012 Dallas Cowboys had a very good offseason.  We drafted very well, and we picked up some much-needed help on defense.  Since there is no lockout, we are well rested and banged up players we lost are rehabilitated.  Costly injuries last year made a huge impact on last season.  In a year where other teams are dealing with contract disputes and troubles with the law, it’s been relatively quiet for the Cowboys. I’m not a big fan of Jerry Jones as a GM, or of his incessant need to be the face of my Cowboys.  However, he has done a good job this off season adding the right pieces, and letting go of underused players.  The NFC East will be difficult, but I’m confident that the Cowboys will be in the mix.  Here is more on the 2012 Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Football Studs:  Tony Romo is a Fantasy Football stud!  That’s right, I said it.  I’m not going to bore you with his stats, but he is top 10 in yards and touchdowns.  People should not let their hatred of Romo or the Cowboys sway them from drafting him (or any other Cowboy for that matter).  Another is TE Jason Witten.  He has consistently been one of the best TEs in the league–definitely the best in this division. WRs Dez Bryant and Miles Austin are capable of putting up great numbers for a fantasy team.  The running game will be effective behind the running tandem of DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones, who have home run hitter ability.  Like I said we are stacked with talent!  Lastly, the Cowboys defense is a much improved unit that will shut down offenses and score points. He’s Mad…She’s Mad…and Nobody Knows ANYTHING in Week 8

Let me tell you how yesterday was supposed to go:   church,  finishing touches on our fantasy lineups, and Sunday Pre-game shows on ESPN/NFL Network.  She was “wishing” the Redskins would pull out a win and I was certain my Cowboys would pull out a win.  Well…none of that happened.  Continue reading

It’s still early…Week 2

HE SAID She Said FOOTBALL Week 2

Burgers on the grill is how we kicked off Week 2 of NFL games on a crisp early fall day in Washington, DC.  Kudos to the NFL network and ESPN for starting game day coverage even earlier this year.  It’s fantastic!  I fully expected my Redskins to go 2-0 heading into Dallas and they did not disappoint…well sort of.  They should have blown OUT the Cards but due to mistakes, they let them hang around the whole game.  Still..a win is a win and now WE WANT DALLAS!

I continue to be impressed with Cam Newton!  He certainly has that star quality!  He still needs to learn personnel on the field though…Charles Woodson is pretty good.  I think he must have forgotten.

As a Cowboy fan coming off another loss at the mistake prone hands of Tony Romo, it wasn’t a good week for me. I heard it from everybody and everywhere:  people on Twitter, Facebook, co-workers, employees, customers!!  I even see my boss’s boss and the first thing he says to me was, “Hey Daryle, HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!”. Then he sends me a work related email using the tagline, HTTR.  Since I wear my Cowboy colors proudly, I take it, but I also give it. I even got into a friendly twitter battle yesterday with a fellow blogger @Sports_R_Me_MP3, who loves his Niners, who happened to be playing my ‘Boys. Now before I get to the game, I ripped Romo last week for giving away another game. I wiped my hands of the QB. But yesterday, after being knocked out of the game with fractured ribs, Romo toughed it out to lead the ‘Boys back in an OT victory, after being down going into the 4th quarter.  Romo is in no way off my Hit List, but he showed me and a lot of fans what he is actually capable of doing Continue reading
