The 2012 Seattle Seahawks clearly want to get a jump on everyone else. Just yesterday the NFL punished the Seahawks for excessive offseason workouts. Coach Pete Carro1l acknowledged his team is young and needs all the workouts they can get…he was not surprise by the punishment. Sounds like Coach Carroll needs to brush up on the rules. I’m sure for fans, its great to hear the team is being aggressive. Here is more from the 2012 Seattle Seahawks:
Fantasy Football Studs: Marshawn Lynch had the best season of his career last year, with over 1200 yards rushing and 13 total trips to pay dirt. Lynch has found new life since flying into Seattle, and he will continue to build momentum as a top RB. The Seahawk defense is also a worthy option for your fantasy squad? Last year they totaled 33 sacks and 22 INTs, which included 4 pick sixes. QB Matt Flynn is an interesting option, but he only has two starts in his career. But I’m sure many fantasy owners will take the risk. He might by worth it.
Area of Strength: Clearly the run is strong in Seattle thanks to Marshawn Lynch. But did you know the Seahawks have a Top 10 Defense? In fact this stingy defense (averaging less than 20 pts allowed), ranked 9th in 2011. 22 INTs and 16 Forced Fumbles is pretty aggressive. The Seahawks spent 6 draft picks to further improve their defense. That’s quite an investment. Considering that the 49ers have gotten better on defense, looks like Pete Carrol wants to compete. The weakness in this defense? Pressure on the passer. Clearly an area of focus and we should see improvements this season.
Area of Weakness: The receiving corp is a weakness for Seattle. They have one proven WR in Sidney Rice, but he has been hampered by injuries in the last couple of seasons. Doug Baldwin, another receiver, showed some flashes last season but he is still mostly unproven. However, Baldwin was the Seahawks leading receiver last year. They also have Golden Tate and TEs Zach Miller and Kellen Winslow Jr, who will no doubt contribute, but it remains to be seen how much. The receivers are not all to blame, seeing that it was Tavaris Jackson taking the snaps. But this year, they added the much sought after Matt Flynn in the off season. The jury is still out on what kind of impact Flynn will actually make as the Seattle QB.
2012 Marquee Matchups: The Seahawks got smacked in the face with their schedule this year. Whoa! Week 1-Week 8, the Seahawks either play a divison rival or a team that will certainly give them a run for their money: Arizona, Dallas, Green Bay, St. Louis, Carolina, New England, San Francisco, and Detroit. I’m very afraid for the 12th man, very afraid.
