Yeah We Said It (during the preseason)!

There are many reasons to love football.  It gives you action and adventure, comedy and drama, theater and live-action.  Many times it’s the things that are said about the game and the players.  Action is on the field, and off the field from fans, reporters, bloggers….sometimes from the players themselves.  Here are a few lines from us in the 2011 offseason (during the lockout).  Funny how things actually played out…

I love Chad, you love Chad…it’s the end zone that no longer welcome’s #85.

The WR core in Detroit starts and ends with Calvin ‘Megatron’ Johnson.  He’s the Lions best offensive weapon…..BAR NONE, and he’s only gonna get better.

“Take Ownership” of the offense is what Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome is expecting of QB Joe Flacco this year in Baltimore.  Joe may be Cool and he may be the best QB the Ravens have ever had, but this is a RUNNING team! Torrey Smith (University of MD: Stand Up) is the rookie WR drafted this offseason.  At 6’1, 204lbs, the Ravens will look to Smith to be the HUGE, PHYSICAL deep threat.

The Coach Tomlin philosophy of “We’re not interested in style points” is awesome for the Steelers, but no so much for Fantasy Football managers.

Super Bowl Hangover?  Don’t bet on it… We all know the story of how Green Bay limped into the Super Bowl and won.  This season, they will be back bigger and better!  You would think that a defense that has players with the names Matthews, Woodson, or Hawk would be a SCARY bunch.  Truth is, the Packers defense is scary–just not in Fantasy Football.

The most electrifying player in the NFL does indeed play in Philly.  Philly did get some much needed help in the draft with picking up 5 Defensive players, and word on the street is that they are looking to make a splash in free agency (whenever that will happen).

Love or hate the New England Patriots, one thing is for sure: Tom Brady = fantasy football success.  The pretty boy is arguably the best Fantasy QB (and real QB for that matter) regardless of the list.  Need reasons?  He scores TDs and he rarely has a turn over (just 4 measly INTs last season).  When ”Mr. Long Hair-Don’t Care” throws 36 TDs in one season, the casual sports fan has to be thinking “Who is this stud of a WR that plays for the Patriots?”.  As a hard core Fantasy Footballers, we all know no such thing exists in New England. The player with the most TDs however was 2010 2nd round draft pick TE Rob Gronkowski with 10 TDs.  He will be a stud this season for Fantasy Footballers.

If the Broncos don’t keep AND start Kyle Orton, they deserve to have another miserable season.  I understand that Tim Tebow is the future, but he is not the best option that Denver has at QB.  I’m rooting for Tebow.  He was one of the best college football players ever.  But it’s a different world in the big boy league.  He still has a lot to learn.  Maybe the Broncos know what they are doing b giving him on the job training.  My take is, if Orton is the starter, draft him and play him as you see fit.  But if Tebow is taking the snaps, run far far away.  There’s no need to mention Brady Quinn.  He’s a non factor!  Von Miller-the Denver Broncos have been waiting for you!  Last year the Broncos were ranked LAST IN THE LEAGUE for total Defense.  I don’t like any Bronco RBs!!!  Especially, Knowshon Moreno.  Nothing personal, but he’s just never been a consistent Fantasy player.

**Stay tuned…next time we will share some of our lines from during the season…
