He Said: How are you NOT watching “The League”?

FX has created one of the funniest shows ever regarding Football: “The League”.  This show is about childhood friends (now mid thirties men) who have been playing fantasy football for years.  It’s so relatable!  The show covers everything from the draft , making trades, questionable decisions, etc…all the way up to the awarding of the league trophy: The Shiva.   Last season, they even created a last place trophy called the Sacko.  Oh, the hilarity! LADIES VS FELLAS WEEK 6

Carson, Donavan, and Ballers Unorthodoks! It’s been quite a day in Fantasy and the NFL.  First, I can’t believe what a great move the Bengals made in trading Carson Palmer to the Raiders.  The owner of the Bengals, Mike Brown is notorious for not trading at all, and he has gone on record by saying that he would never trade Palmer.  Well today he had a sense of clarity, because Brown pulled the trigger to the tune of two first round draft picks.  For that guy?!?!  UNBELIEVABLE!  Next, I have to mention the sad end to the career of Donavan McNabb.  He was benched in Sunday’s loss to the Bears, and it was announced today that the benching will be permanent.  What a terrible way to go for such an accomplished player who at one point in his career was an exciting franchise QB.  Doubtful, that he’ll end up like Kurt Warner, whose own career was brought back from the dead.  When he arrived DOA in Arizona.  So SAD McNabb.   Now on to He SAID She Said Fantasy Football. A Broken Leg, a QB Change, a Scuffle, and Friendly Fans…Week 6

Once again, yesterday started off much the same as most Sundays during the NFL season do:  mixed with nervous optimism and excitement all at once.  We chose to hang out at Buffalo Wild Wings to take in the action.  We knew there would be a good mix of Skins fans, Eagles fans, Cowboys fans.  But also mixed in the crowd were Giants, Niners, Ravens, and Steelers fans.  The NFL was well represented and it was GREAT.  We love connecting and meeting new fans to share commonality and argue differences.  It was FANtastic!  What more could I ask for, wings, libation and football being the backdrop to a crowded sports bar.  I kept a close eye on the Skins/Eagles, as well as the Giants/Bills game, but the game that intrigued me the most was the Lions/Niners contest.  This was a great back and forth between the two surprise teams.  Of course we know the outcome by now:  the Niners edged the Lions, giving the Detroit team their first loss of the season. But after the game is what everyone can’t stop talking about:  one coach going after the other because of a handshake and a pat on the back?  C’mon Man (yeah, I stole that).  But seriously, are you kidding me.  Here’s my take on it.  One coach was vexed by the loss and the manner in which his team lost and the winning coach was HYPED that his team pull out a win in such a competitive game.  That’s it, case closed.  You got to learn how to stay out your feelings in the NFL, Win or Lose!  I was also happy to see the Bucs rebound from last week’s loss to take out the Saints.  But the most bizarre thing about the game was the coach got injured?  I saw Sean Payton getting carried off the field like he was playing.  I heard of being a player’s coach, but I think he took it a bit too far.  Anyway, we wish Coach Payton a speedy recovery.  Regarding the Cowboys/Pats game, I think the photographic evidence says it all.

Note to Jason Garrett:  If you are going to have Tony ROmo as your QB, you might as well let him be who he is.  If you don’t trust him, get him off the field.  Mr. Garrett, you should be ashamed of yourself calling a shuffle pass on 3rd down with over two minutes left in the game.  YOU ARE PLAYING AGAINST TOM FREAKIN BRADY!

My View Of Sunday’s San Francisco/ Detroit Game-by Mike Patton

**Mike Patton blogs for “The Everyday Man’s Sports Blog” and is a member of Sports Blog Movement.

The 49ers came into Detroit with most thinking they would lose. Everyone was drinking the silver and blue Kool-Aid and ready to anoint this team. Well, somebody forgot to tell the 49ers. Arguably the most physical football team in the NFL, San Francisco came in and imposed their will on the Lions. Continue reading

Saturdays are good for us!

Last week our Canes dropped below .500 in a loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies.  We watched the game at Buffalo Wild Wings in College Park Maryland.  Luckily the Terps had an away game and had just suffered a loss of their own.  Otherwise things for us in that Wild Wings could have been worse.

Today I fully expected the Canes to win-and win they did…well barely Continue reading

LADIES VS FELLAS WEEK 5

What an interesting week!  While the men TRIED to keep it a bit more competitive, the women still pulled it out 3-2.  The big winner again this week?  You guessed it-Domin8 Trix leading all teams with 132 points.  Her choke hold on the #1 spot is something serious!  Another lovely lady holding it down at 5-0 is Girl Behaving Badly.  These ladies are the only 2 undefeated teams in the whole league!
