Let me tell you how yesterday was supposed to go: church, finishing touches on our fantasy lineups, and Sunday Pre-game shows on ESPN/NFL Network. She was “wishing” the Redskins would pull out a win and I was certain my Cowboys would pull out a win. Well…none of that happened. Continue reading

Last week, HE SAID She SaidFOOTBALL began to take a look at this year’s Heisman hopefuls not named Luck. We started it off with Clemson sophomore QB Tajh Boyd, who tonight leads his team against ACC foe Georgia Tech.
This week, we want to highlight Houston Sr. QB Case Keenum. In Keenum’s most recent performance, he led the Cougars in a 73-34 victory over Rice. “Led” is actually a complete fabrication and understatement. Keenum went on to throw for 534 yards and 9 TDs! He also broke the record for TD passes in college football with 139 career touchdowns, adding to the record he broke last week for total offense in a college career. Though he has a stellar career which has spanned over 6 years due to a horrific knee injury early last season, Keenum is considered a longshot for the Heisman. ESPN has him #7 on their experts poll. Houston is currently undefeated and has done so in convincing fashion. They have outscored their opponents 418-198, and with 4 games left, they have a good chance of finishing the season undefeated. Even with that, the Cougars will not be given any serious consideration for a National Championship. Also, because Keenum doesn’t face to any real competition in Conference USA, he may not receive the votes needed to win the Heisman. However,Case Keenum should receive notice from some of the voters, and even more important, NFL scouts. He may not be a household name now, but let’s see how things play out for Case.
Trick or Treat? That’s how I feel about the Miami Hurricanes. Today they had a Thursday night game on the schedule against UVA. We already had plans to check out a local performing artist (who we didn’t enjoy this week by the way) at the Socci Restaurant inside of the Arlington Renaissance Capital View Hotel in Crystal City VA. We went a few weeks ago and checked out another band that was OUTSTANDING! The place is GORGEOUS and the happy hour is great! Two large plasma TVs sit at the end of each bar. One TV with the pre game coverage of the World Series on Fox and the other had pre game coverage of both the World Series and the Miami vs UVA game on ESPN. Continue reading
Let me start with the GREAT news: In the He SAID She Said Fantasy Football League Match up of the Week the guys took another L. This week’s match up was between my girl (and Dallas Cowboys fan) STAR STUDDED and the man of his blog (also a Dallas Cowboys fan) DNasty. Friday night DNasty saw STAR STUDDED in person and was talking King Kong size trash. Taunting her about her bye week players, asking her how she know about the Waiver Wire…just awful! He was very confident. And well fellas…he choked! Let me tell you: The ROOKIE, STAR STUDDED, handled her biz against your league commish DNasty. Proud of you lady! Even happier that the fellas took another L!
We both play fantasy football in different leagues outside of the He Said She Said Fantasy Football League. We decided to do a little bye week experiment. Both of us have Tom Brady as our starting QB (in different leagues of course). Pretty Boy was on a bye this week so, we acquired Tim Tebow from waivers and started him this Sunday at QB. We were pretty confident in the beginning, but then–reality . Every time I checked Stattracker, Tebow only had 2 points, 3 points, etc (yards basically). Tebow’s live stats at one point in the 4th quarter showed he was 4 for 14 and I thought “Jeez! This experiment was stupid”. I checked again at 4:10pm and saw that I had 27 points. That man not only saved our fantasy stats, but also pulled out an amazing last 5 mins of the 4th quarter for the Broncos. People have so much to say about Tim Tebow…All I know is I took a chance on the man and he came through. I think the Broncos fans experienced the same result. Continue reading
Homecomings are happening at high schools and colleges all across the country Alumni everywhere are getting reacquainted with old friends and classmates. As a matter of fact, one of the biggest and most popular homecomings is occurring locally at historically black Howard University here in DC, along with the US Naval Academy and Virginia Tech. But anywhere where there are homecomings happening, there’s also a football game and generally a good match-up to excite the crowd. There’s Howard v NC A&T, Navy taking on East Carolina, Hampton battling North Carolina Central, and Va Tech playing Boston College. Continue reading
